For Media Information
The application submitted by the Glendale Police Department for a TFR with the FAA was approved as follows:
-Three mile radius of Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale from the surface to 3000 MSL (above sea level) starting at 1700hrs local time and ending at 2200hrs local time on September 3, 2009.
-All aircraft requesting to operate within the restricted airspace will need to comply under FAR 91.137 (d)(4) and (e) 1-5 through the local Flight Service Station.
-We will have an FAA inspector onboard one of our Police helicopters to assist in monitoring the event.
-Federal Aviation Regulation 91.137 / Flight plans to be filed and notifications made with an FSS or ATC facility.
-Event air-to-air radio frequency will be 118.57.

-Forest Lawn Memorial Park will be closed for the funeral service.
-The service is indoors.
-Family only.
-Streets around the Memorial Park Entrance will be closed and restricted to media only.
-Media parking will be in the 1600 and 1700 block of S. Glendale
-Cerritos Park will be closed and used as a camp for the Media.
-The Glendale Police Department has obtained temporary flight restrictions.

The Glendale Police Department has received word from Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale that the Michael Jackson funeral service will be held Thursday September 3, 2009 at 7 p.m.
Letters are being drafted and being sent to residents in the affected area due to closures. More information will become available during the week of August 31st, 2009.

Courtesy Notice for Media vehicles for BOTH news or magazine style television shows, news radio broadcasts and credentialed press photographers. INVITATION into the secured and permitted media area hosted by Forest Lawn and the Jackson Family.

Personnel listed on the e-mail shall have company credentials in possession on the date of the service.
Passenger cars / vans bringing additional personnel must also be registered via e-mail to tlorenz@ci.glendale.ca.us ( may be limited )
All personnel shall have acknowledged or be in possession of these conditions and all future updated conditions that are readily available on www.police.ci.glendale.ca.us
-You are limited to one satellite or microwave vehicle. Should you need more, include your request in your RSVP. Satellite is strongly recommended due to the terrain.
-Generators are encouraged as there is an elementary school directly across the street and vehicle exhaust from multiple vehicles may become a problem. Your vehicle may be required to shut its engine off.
-Pool Camera information will be announced the week of August 31st.
-The time media will be allowed into the restricted pool area has yet to be determined.
IF YOU HAVE A DESIRE TO BE SET UP EARLY THURSDAY MORNING, PLEASE E-MAIL tlorenz@ci.glendale.ca.us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITH THIS REQUEST. THERE WILL BE RESTRICTED NO PARKING IN THE ENTIRE AREA 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE EVENT, POSSIBLY LONGER. IT WILL BE STRICLTY ENFORCED. WE WILL ATTEMPT TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR REQUEST.
Please understand that these restrictions are in place to mitigate the impact on the community, the school and the children to operate without threat, businesses to function, the prevention of disturbances, unruly behavior and unlawful demonstrations. Safety is a priority and a sterile environment prior to media being invited in is paramount.

Street Parking restrictions / Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
Parking is being ENFORCED. All Violators are subject to citation and/or tow.
The area surrounding the entrance of Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale will be closed to traffic at least 24 hours prior to the funeral service. Media trucks will be allowed entry and assigned parking on the morning of the service. Media Trucks will not be allowed to set up the day prior without authorization of the Office of the PIO. tlorenz@ci.glendale.ca.us
Should you arrive on a short term basis on any day prior to the service to make a report or develop your story, it is strongly recommended that residential streets are avoided. Many streets have parking restrictions and are small; your oversized media vehicle/van will prevent emergency vehicles to pass. They are subject to citation and/or tow.

Capacity for media outlets has been reached. Unless you have made prior arrangements to submit your information for credentials at a later time, it is now CLOSED.
Some of the details for the service.
-Forest Lawn Memorial Park will be closed for the funeral service.
-The service is indoors.
-Family only.
-Tentatively, one pool camera and one photographer inside Forest Lawn. Information to follow on these contacts when confirmed. (Pool cam may see family carry casket with family members following, enter Mausoleum. Doors close. Family exits at conclusion of service.
-Streets around the Memorial Park Entrance will be closed.
-Approximately 100 yards of traffic lanes will be marked for stand-ups and cameras only. At no time will media be allowed to cross into the #2 N/B lane and curb lane of Glendale or stand on the east curb or drape in front of Forest Lawn.
-Street Closure will begin at 4 a.m. PST September 3, 2009
-Entry will be at the Glendale / Los Feliz intersection.
-Media parking will be in the 1600 and 1700 block of S. Glendale.
-Crew parking will be in the 1400-1600 block of S. Glendale.
-All personnel shall check in at PIO Command Post for credentials. Credentials issued shall be worn at all times or face eviction from the secure area.
-Cerritos Park will be closed and used as a camp for the Media. (restrooms, tables, rest area)
-The Glendale Police Department has obtained temporary flight restrictions.
