Basketball Coach Arrested
Date Posted: 1/29/2009 10:25:02 AM
Bulletin Number: 09-01
DR Number: 09-1563
Announcement: On January 24, 2009, the Glendale Police Department received a report of a male adult, identified as Erik Brandon Ross, who was currently a club and high school basketball coach, had engaged in sexual encounters with underage females. The victim in the recent case is a 16 year old female student / basketball player of a Los Angeles area high school and club team. An investigation was launched into the 43 year old basketball coach. Glendale Police Detectives learned that the coach had made acquaintance with his victim while coaching an independent girl’s youth basketball team this past summer. The victim did not play on the team, however was participating in a tournament. The coach exchanged phone numbers with the female basketball player and developed a relationship.

In December of 2008, Ross took the victim to a motel located in Glendale and provided alcohol. The investigation has revealed that there is a strong likelihood that there are other victims. In some cases, parents of female players may have become suspicious; however there was no report to local law enforcement agencies.

The Glendale Police Department is seeking any information related to Erik Brandon Ross and his relationship with underage females in the hopes of identifying other victims.

Detective Eric Webber can be reached at 818-548-3106 or a report may be made anonymously to Glendale CrimeStoppers at 818-507-STOP.

Eric Ross is being held at Glendale City Jail on charges of:

8 counts of 288a(b)(1)PC
4 counts of 261.5(c) PC
