Seven Pedestrians Struck in 4 Days
Date Posted: 12/11/2006 4:01:47 PM
Bulletin Number: 06-41
DR Number: 06-1919
Announcement: Press Release:

Motorists and Pedestrians are asked to be Vigilant

Since Friday December 8 there have been seven accidents involving pedestrians. The City of Glendale encourages all motorists and pedestrians to be extra vigilant during the holiday season. These accidents highlight the fact that fault can be with either the driver of a vehicle or a pedestrian. It is incumbent upon both parties to be aware of their surroundings.

During the Holiday Season, citizens can expect the City of Glendale to step enforcement and awareness through educational programs. One outlet will be through GTV-6 and the Glendale Police Department “Behind the Badge” TV show. It will air this Wednesday at 7 p.m. and highlight the City of Glendale’s coordinated effort with the group Smartz Moves that recently kicked-off a senior citizen pedestrian safety campaign with a collision simulation demonstration. The demonstration was video taped and will be included in Wednesday's TV show. The senior citizen pedestrian safety campaign is being funded through an Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) grant.
