Glendale Police K9 Officer Makes History During A Traffic Enforcement Stop

On Thursday July 6th 2006, at 10:00 pm, Glendale Police K9 Officer Sumner conducted a traffic stop of a brown Ford van in the 1100 block of Thompson Ave in the city of Glendale. Officer Sumner observed the Ford van commit a traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop the driver and sole occupant, Ebrahim Kalatehe, 35years old a resident of Glendale, was discovered to possess a small amount of opium in the pocket of the clothing he was wearing. Utilizing the newly acquired K9 “Yudy”, a German shepherd cross-trained to detect narcotics as well as individuals, Officer Sumner and K9 “Yudy” located over 12 pounds of opium in the brown van. This represents the largest single opium seizure in the history of Glendale.
Ebrahim Kaletehe was arrested for possession of opium for sale and transportation of opium. He is being held at Glendale Police Department on a $30,000.00 bail and will be arraigned in Glendale Superior Court on Monday, July 10, 2006.
