Red Light Photo-Enforcement System

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Voluntary Termination of Red Light Camera Enforcement

Due to a series of court cases on the State level over the legality of red light camera enforcement, the City of Glendale has voluntarily decided to terminate the program. Although state law continues to allow municipalities the use of cameras to enforce red light violations, as of February 24th, 2012, the Glendale Police Department will no longer issue citations to violators captured on these cameras.

FAQ

  • What should I do if I have a red light photo ticket taken after February 24th, 2012?

    • You do not have to contact the court since the Glendale Police Department is not pursuing payment or prosecuting any red light photo tickets in court as of February 24th, 2012.
    • The Glendale Police Department will not seek out violators on the photo tickets as of February 24th, 2012.

  • What should I do if I have a red light photo ticket that I have never responded to?

    • The Glendale Superior Court should be contacted in any instance where you received a letter from the court stating that if not paid, a civil assessment would be added to the violation. In order to clear that civil assessment, the court must be contacted.

  • What should I do if I have already pled guilty and paid my photo red light ticket?

    • If you pled guilty before February 24th, 2012 and paid the fine, no money will be returned to you.

  • What should I do if I received a citation and I am not the driver?

    • You should contact the Glendale Superior Court and notify them of the fact that you are not the driver. There is a chance the Court issued a civil assessment to your name for failing to appear.

  • What will happen if I do not contact the court and I have a civil assessment attached to a citation for not appearing?

    • The civil assessment will remain in your name until it is cleared with the court.

For any citation issued prior to February 24, 2012, you should contact the Glendale Court.
