The League of California Cities recognized Neighborhood Services and the Committee for a Clean & Beautiful Glendale with Helen Putnam Awards for Excellence in 2005. The League Partners Award recognized Neighborhood Services' Mariposa Neighborhood Improvement Project, a
rental housing inspection program. The Ruth Vreeland Award for Engaging Youth recognized CCBG's "Junior Ambassador" program, an environmental stewardship program for middle school students.
On November 9, 2005, Jennifer Quan, District Representative for the League of California Cities, made the formal awards presentation during the live City Council meeting.
