Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic Recreation programs are specifically designed for individuals with disabilities. Groups are usually small and the participant-to-staff ratio is appropriate to the needs of the group. The activities are planned to meet the interests of the participants and can be individualized.

The Community Services & Parks is expanding and developing programs for individuals with special needs. You're cordially invited to join us at one of the following programs.

Transportation services are available through Dial-A-Ride.

CLUB MAPLE
Club Maple is a FREE program open to all developmentally disabled adults. Club Maple provides an opportunity for individuals to experience positive, healthy recreation and socialization experiences. Activities are appropriate to age and skill ability in a friendly and safe environment. A monthly calendar of events is available upon request. Club Maple meets every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Avenue, MAP.

GET FIT
GET FIT is a free-of-charge, multi-faceted program that educates developmentally disabled adults on how to start and maintain a healthy life-style through exercise and nutrition. If you are interested in becoming a fitness or wellness instructor, please contact Walter Alvarez at (818) 548-2796. GET FIT every Monday, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Avenue, MAP.

All participants are required to have a completed Release of Liability & Indemnity Agreement form on file.

For more information, download the current issue of our Leisure Guide and Recreation Wrap Up, or call (818) 548-2184. Registration information is also available on-line.
