A shimmering gala evening featuring sumptuous hors d'oeuvres, signature drinks, live music - and best of all - the exquisitely restored and upgraded Brand Library & Art Center. 4/6/2014 2:00pm Brand Associates Music Series featuring pianist Mark Robson Acclaimed pianist Mark Robson opens the series playing 15 new short pieces composers worldwide have written for him, their 15 Minutes of Fame. Also on the program are pieces by Ravel, Los Angeles composers Gerard Schurmann, Vera Ivanova, Mark Robson and more!

4/17/2014 7:00pm History Talk This is your chance to hear Debra Gerod, project architect and partner at Gruen Associates, talk about the Brand Library renovation process and its surprises and discoveries, as well as the historic architecture and design of Leslie C. Brand’s beloved El Miradero. The talk will be followed by a tour of the renovated Brand mansion.
4/19/2014 2:00pm Opera Talk - Thais The LA Opera Speakers Bureau presents a talk on Jules Massenet's Thaïs, which will be performed by LA Opera between May 17 and June 7, 2014.
4/26/2014 11:00am Music Animated -Music with David Early Music teacher David Early will discuss and play percussion instruments demonstrating their infinite variety of sounds. An assortment of musical instruments will be available after the program for children to play. Ages 4 and up. Under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
5/3/2014 10:30am Make it! Get creative at this family craft program with Carrie Burckle. Ages 4 and up. Program limited to 20 kids plus accompanying adults; kids under 9 must be with an adult.
5/4/2014 2:00pm Brand Associates Music Series featuring cellist Maksim Velichkin Cellist Maksim Velichkin plays Bach, Homage to Bach (15 new short pieces by 15 composers), Glendale composer George Gianopoulos, Alfred Schnittke and more!
5/8/2014 7:00pm REEL ART - A Not So Average Joe Twenty years after the death of legendary guitarist Joe Pass the remaining members of his quartet, jazz giants Colin Bailey, John Pisano and Jim Hughart along with Joe’s protege Frank Potenza, came together over two days to record for Capri Records Ltd. a tribute aptly titled “For Joe”. Director and producer Dailey Pike captures the magic in his extraordinary new documentary, A Not So Average Joe.

5/18/2014 2:00pm Brand Associates Music Series featuring the Elixir Piano Trio The award winning trio of pianist Lucy Nargizyan; violinist Samvel Chilingarian and cellist Garik Terzian will play Beethoven and Rachmaninov.
5/22/2014 7:00pm History Talk Glendale's rich history explored! Talks and photo presentations will be on topics related to the Brand estate, Brand's impact on Glendale as well as other aspects of the history, architecture and art of Glendale and its neighboring communities, with special expert guest speakers.
6/7/2014 11:00am Music Animated- Violin Bon-Bons: Magical Music for Children with violinist Paul Stein Los Angeles Philharmonic violinist Paul Stein will present Violin Bon-Bons: Magical Music for Children. Mr. Stein will play and discuss the violin in a program for children. A variety of musical instruments will be available at the library after the program for children to play. Ages 4 and up. Under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
6/8/2014 2:00pm Brand Associates Music Series featuring the Los Angeles Horn Trio This trio consists of acclaimed musicians Steven Durnin on French horn, Jacqueline Suzuki on violin and Susan Svrcek on piano. They will be playing the Brahms Horn Trio and more!
6/14/2014 10:30am Make it! Get creative at this family craft program with Cameron Taylor-Brown. Ages 4 and up. Program limited to 20 kids plus accompanying adults; kids under 9 must be with an adult.

Someday is Now: The Art of Corita Kent Author and curator Michael Duncan, with Alexandra Carrera, Director of the Corita Art Center, present their new publication Someday is Now: The Art of Corita Kent (Prestel USA, 2013), a full-scale survey of the work of the innovative artist, activist and teacher whose interest in printmaking was born during her tenure at Los Angeles’ Immaculate Heart College.

Iryna will be playing a Stradivarius violin on loan from the Canadian government.
