Based on information from the National Weather Service and a physical inspection of our debris basins and burn areas, the City of Glendale has lifted the Emergency Evacuation Order and you may now return to your home. Residents must show proof of residency in order to re-enter their neighborhoods.
There is still an immediate threat from flash flooding, mudslides, rockslides and significant debris flows. For these reasons, we are urging residents to remain cognizant and aware of their homes and surrounding area during the coming months. Updates and future advisories will appear on the City’s government access channel, the City’s website and the City’s Hotline (818) 548-6464 as necessary.
The City of Glendale thanks those residents who complied with the emergency evacuation order, which allowed public works and public safety crews to do their jobs more efficiently.
The City’s emergency evacuation order will remain in effect overnight.
Conditions will be re-evaluated in the morning of January 22 and a determination will be made then as to when the order will be lifted.
The weather service has predicted thunderstorms throughout the night with possibly heavy rainfall at times. If you are within the mandatory evacuation area and have not yet left your residence, please do so. The City’s emergency shelter at the Civic Auditorium, 1401 N. Verdugo Road will remain open overnight.

Glendale officials announced today that an evacuation center has been opened for those residents who are under evacuation orders. The City, in coordination with the American Red Cross, has opened the Glendale Civic Auditorium located at 1401 North Verdugo Road.
Residents who are being asked to evacuate were contacted Tuesday evening through the City’s mass phone system. City staff members today are going door to door informing residents of the mandatory order.
Glendale Police have put up road barricades in the Glenoaks Canyon area (Freeway Fire burn area). Street barricades will soon go up in the north Glendale area (Station Fire area).

The Glendale Civic Auditorium has been designated as an emergency shelter by the Red Cross. This shelter will also be able to accept household pets beginning at 8:30 am this morning.
Glendale officials announced this evening that the City will implement mandatory evacuations in designated areas on Wednesday, January 20, at 9am. The County of Los Angeles announced this afternoon a similar evacuation order for the unincorporated area of La Crescenta and the City of La Canada Flintridge.
Based on information from the National Weather Service and the County of Los Angeles, the City decided to implement the mandatory evacuation order for those homes that were determined to be in immediate danger from the threat of flash flooding. Residents who are being asked to evacuate were contacted Tuesday evening through the City’s mass phone system. City staff members also went door to door informing residents of the mandatory order.
The City will be opening the Glendale Civic Auditorium for evacuees starting at 7am, Wednesday, January 20. The Civic Auditorium is located at 1401 North Verdugo Road.
