Notice of Department Realignment
 

Please be advised that in September, 2009, the Glendale City Council approved the realignment of the functions and responsibilities of the Community Development and Housing Department into three new, reformulated departments in order to improve service delivery to the community through coordination of programs and staff.  This realignment and transfer of functions and responsibilities is effective as of January 1, 2010.  The former Community Development and Housing divisions and their new respective departments are noted below:

"My Home Town Photo" Contest

Neighborhood Services and the Committee for a Clean & Beautiful Glendale invite all amateur photographers who live in Glendale, Montrose, or La Crescenta to take part in the 5th annual "My Home Town" Photo Contest. To enter, complete the submission form and bring or mail it with your 8” X 10” color or black and white photo depicting what you like best about your home town to:

Entry deadline: July 22, 2010

Entries will be showcased at the "Summer Night on the Plaza" gala on Thursday, July 29, 2010, during which, the attendees select a winner. At the end of the evening, once all ballots are counted, the Grand Prize Winners are announced. A $250 cash prize is awarded to the winner of each category. Entry photos are later shown and credited on the City's webpage and are displayed gallery-style in city facilities.

2009 color winner

For the 2009 contest, over sixty photos were entered. The first place winner for the color category was a photo taken by Susan L., entitled "Coyote stakeout at the gopher hole." The first place black and white photo was taken by Andrew L. and it is entitled "Wallaby at the Library". Higher resolution images are available by clicking on the image thumbnails on this page. Thank you to all of the photographers and attendees at the Summer Night on the Plaza for your participation.
