CRUISE NIGHT 2010 SLIDESHOW

CITY SETS GUINNESS TWIST RECORD

Officials for the City of Glendale announced today that the City set a Guinness Book of World Record for having the most people participate in a "twist event." The record was set over the weekend at the City's Annual Cruise Night Car Show and Street Party.

"The new record stands at 1,692," says City Public Information Officer Ritch Wells. "We beat the old mark by one person." The old record was 1,691 which was set in April 2004.

The new record was confirmed by Guinness representative Amanda Mochan after rock star Chubby Checker finished his performance at the Cruise Night event. Mochan was at the event and presented the City with an official Guinness plaque.

The City set up official dance areas near the main stage which included turnstiles to get an accurate count. The participants had to dance the twist for five minutes in order to qualify for the record. The event was video taped by the City's Government Access Channel, GTV6. It was also documented by still photographers and members of the media who were covering the event.
